News is coming out today that everyones favorite “juiced” player Jose Canseco has finalized a deal to publish a follow-up to his book “Juiced”. The new book, with a working title of “Vindicated” is expected to hit stores before the 2008 MLB opening day and will be co-authored by former Sports Illustrated writer Don Yaeger. Canseco was apparently disappointed by the Mitchell report and wants to write his take with “an unjaundiced view, without the rose-colored glasses”. When did Canseco become the steroid voice of reason? Wasn’t he on the Surreal Life? Oh thats right he calls himself the “godfather of steroids in baseball” - sounds like a guy I would trust with the national past-time.

Canseco, with his voice of reason, was disappointed with the information in the Mitchell Report, including names that were left out (e.g. Rafael Palmeiro and Ivan Rodriguez). “I saw the list of players, and there are definitely a lot of players missing,” Canseco told Fox Business earlier this month. “I don’t know what they accomplished or what they are trying to prove.”

Canseco’s lawyer, Robert Saunooke, talked to a few New York newspapers about the book plans and had this to say - “The book is basically going to be — I don’t want to say an attack — but it will be a clarification of why certain names should have been mentioned [in the Mitchell report] that were not mentioned. We had hoped that the Mitchell report would have been more revealing. It basically ended up being nothing more than [Mitchell saying], ‘I talked to a lot of people, some people wouldn’t talk to me and it’s up to the commissioner.” It appears as though in his new book Canseco also plans to talk about Mark McGwire’s appearance in front of Congress, Alex Rodriguez and some other details of setroids in baseball that he left out of his first book.

I will be first in line to buy this book, I can always use a good laugh and this looks to be a classic. Also, no article about Jose Canseco would be complete without mentioning that Canseco hit 462 steroid infused home runs.
