NFL: Tomlinson says injury nothing serious, but expects to play Sunday

San Diego Chargers all-pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson said today at a news conference that an MRI taken of his knee showed he had hyperextended it and that it is “nothing serious”. Tomlinson expects to play Sunday in the AFC Championship game against the New England Patriots, but will probably be listed on the injury report as questionable. The Chargers will need all the help they can get against the undefeated and seemingly unstoppable Patriots.
Tomlinson, the NFL rushing leader, hurt his knee during the second-quarter of the game against the defending Super Bowl champs, the Indianapolis Colts, in their playoff match-up. After injuring his knee on the 8-yard running play, Tomlinson tested out his knee but was unable to return. If Tomlinson is unable to play against the Patriots, backup Michael Turner would fill in as starting running back - against the Colts Turner rushed 17 times for 71 yards.
