The other night the UCLA Bruins and California Bears played a great basketball game with UCLA winning it with a last second shot. However, as the video below shows the UCLA shot actually went from behind the backboard…which is not allowed.

Well, we saw another crazy week in College Basketball where some of the top teams lost creating more shifts in the polls. The Memphis Tigers (25-0) stayed on top of the polls for the fifth straight week, while the Tennessee Volunteers (23-2) moved up to #2 after the Duke Blue Devils lost to Wake Forest last night. Having the Tigers and Volunteers atop the polls couldn’t have come at a better time as the two teams play each other this Saturday in Memphis.

Ironically the North Carolina Tar Heels moved up to the 3rd spot, while the Blue Devils dropped to #4 - didn’t the Blue Devils beat the Tar Heels not so long ago?  The Kansas Jayhawks also dropped a couple of spots, now ranked #5,  after their loss to Texas. The Texas Longhorns made the biggest jump of the week moving up 4 spots to #7 after their big win over Kansas.

College Basketball: Washington takes out #4 UCLA

Well upset weekend continues in College Basketball as we are starting to see who the real top teams are and who have no business at the top of the college basketball polls. Today the Washington Huskies (13-11) took out the #4 ranked UCLA Bruins (21-3) 71-61 in a game that shows that the PAC-10 championship is up for grabs.

The Bruins, who had their eye on a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, had their chances but in the end poor shooting from their top players doomed them. Bruins freshman standout Kevin Love had only 13 points on 3 of 8 shooting and was being manhandled down-low by the Huskies Artem Wallace for most of the night. The Bruins other top scorer, Darren Collison, was in foul trouble for most of the game and turned over the ball 6 times in the first 20 minutes - Collison, who was averaging 14.6 points per game, finished with 3 points, 4 assists and 8 turnovers.

The Huskies on the other hand got help from a unlikely place, previously benched Justin Dentmon came in to add a much needed spark and finished the game with 20 points. Huskies forward Jon Brockman dominated the boards all night collecting 17 rebounds - Brockman also put in 12 points.

The road for the Bruins does not get easier as they head next to USC. The Huskies meanwhile head down to Oregon and try to build on the momentum from this win.
