MLB: Rockies third baseman Garrett Atkins gets huge pay raise

Colorado Rockies third basemen Garrett Atkins just signed a 1-year deal that will give him a huge pay increase for next season - Atkins, who made just $400,000 last year, will make $4,387,500 in 2008. In arbitration Atkins had asked for $4.65 million and the Rockies offered $4.125 million. The Rockies now have just 2 players remaining in arbitration, pitcher Brian Fuentes and outfielder Brad Hawpe.

Last year Atkins batted .301, hit 25 homers and batted in 111 RBI’s for the NL champions.
